Nestled on 42 acres on the banks of the Medway River, Allington Castle, with its commanding presence, is a totally gorgeous medieval castle. This is truly one of the most incredible castle wedding venues in Kent—a castle for every season that very few people know about because it is a private residence.
Flanked by water as you approach, this castle is complete with fairytale turrets, and landscaped gardens, making it the perfect setting for creating magical tiny weddings. The stunning medieval 12th-century castle’s romantic riverside setting offers a stunning and unique backdrop to your special day. It is licensed for elopements inside within the stunning Great Hall and outside under the Dome.
Allington Castle is licensed for civil ceremonies inside and outside.
Where can you get married WITHIN ALLINGTON CASTLE?
Licensed ceremonies at the castle can be held year-round indoors or outdoors in the castle’s grounds during the British summertime. For indoor ceremonies, the Great Hall offers a breathtaking setting with its imposing stone walls, high vaulted wooden ceilings, and ancient tapestries illuminated by natural light. It feels like stepping onto the set of a grand historical film, where you and your partner play the leading roles. This is the very hall where Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn dined with Sir Thomas Wyatt around 1530. A beautiful Steinway piano is also available for your chosen pianist to add a musical touch to your ceremony. You can find details on our recommended supplier list.
Can we marry outside?
If the weather is favorable, the gardens are a stunning choice for eloping couples during the British summertime. You can exchange vows in the manicured formal gardens, with the castle as a swoon-worthy backdrop, perfect for those storybook wedding photos. Alternatively, take a romantic stroll across the water to the eco-friendly gardens and say “I do” under the enchanting Dome. The lush riverside scenery offers countless photo opportunities, with one of our favorites being the ancient Dovecote. Although it no longer has a roof, it has been carefully renovated and planted to create the most gorgeous, private shots.

All we require £1,000 non-refundable retainer to secure your elopement, with the remainder paid four weeks before the E-Lopement intimate wedding date.
The photographer will require you to sign their own T&Cs, and ideally, we would love you to give us all of your gallery or just details of, for example, your feet and hands as this helps us with marketing to other couples like you.

Please note that whilst we reserve your legal wedding with Kent County Council, you must pay them directly.
